SEAFORCE is presently in contract with the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service to provide the Southern Ocean Maritime Patrol and Response Capability (SOMPARC). Since 2010 we have partnered with Teekay Shipping (Australia) to provide the ACV OCEAN PROTECTOR, a 7000 tonne offshore support vessel designed and constructed by DOF Subsea in Norway. Launched in 2007 the ship represents the latest in offshore vessel design and she commenced operations in Australia in June 2010.
The OCEAN PROTECTOR is an extremely versatile and capable vessel. She has a nominal operational crew 22 in addition to Australian Government officials, Defence personnel and Customs Officers who are embarked according to specific mission requirements. Specifically designed for the rigours of harsh ocean environments in northern latitudes, the OCEAN PROTECTOR has state of the art facilities and capabilities designed and fitted exclusively for her mission in Australian waters.
The ship has successfully provided consistent and sustained service on a wide variety of maritime operations within the Australian Exclusive Economic Zone and is well suited to operations in all of Australia’s maritime areas. The OCEAN PROTECTOR, alongside other Defence, Customs and Border Protection vessels is at the forefront of ensuring the security of Australia’s maritime interests in the Southern Ocean and beyond.
